Rangers at state wrestling tournament

Hamilton Township High School sent two wrestlers to the OHSAA State Wrestling Tournament, held March 8-10 at Ohio
State’s Schottenstein Center. Both of the Ranger wrestlers took the top spot at the District Tournament.
Audrina Pack, a junior, (shown here in action) entered the tournament with a record of 31-6 in the 235 pound class. She pinned Le Naysia Dickson of Lyndhurst Brush in 34 seconds. Pack lost to eventual champion, Brooke Jenkins of Vermillion, but she came back to pin her next two opponents, Maddie Miller of Lewistown Indian Lake and Dakota McCracken of Hanoverton United. Pack lost her semi-final match against Deionna Borders of Berea-Midpark before wrapping up on a high note, pinning junior Alexas Cowan of West Union in 39 seconds to finish in the fifth place spot.
Sienna Sanborn, a senior, (shown here with her arm raised in victory) returned to tournament for the fourth the time. She finished first at the District Tournament in the 130 pound class. At the state tournament, she pinned Liberty Johnson of Batavia Clermont Northeastern and next defeated Kai Gaetjens of Mogadore. She lost her next two matches before winning her final match with a 4-2 victory over Emily Flynn of Hubbard. The final win made Sanborn a three time state placer, taking fifth all three years. She finished the season with a record of 45-4. Sanborn passed the 100 career win milestone this season and signed to wrestle next season at Tiffin University.
