The city of Grove City and the Buckeye Chapter 500 of the Military Order of the Purple Heart invite all Purple Heart recipients, their families, veterans and the community to the dedication of the Purple Heart Memorial Walk and Commemorative Marker at 2 p.m., Aug. 6 at Henceroth Park, 2075 Mallow Lane, behind Jackson Middle School. A local brass ensemble will welcome visitors before the ceremony begins.

The Purple Heart Medal is awarded to members of the United States armed forces who suffered combat wounds or to their families if they are deceased. The Military Order of the Purple Heart of the U.S.A. Inc. was formed in 1932 for the protection and mutual interest of all who received the decoration.

“Our community is proud to host this solemn occasion to recognize and honor Purple Heart recipients,” said Mayor Richard “Ike” Stage.

Members of the Military Order of the Purple Heart will present a Purple Heart flag to Stage in recognition of the recent announcement of Grove City becoming a Purple Heart City.
All are invited to join the city in honoring and showing appreciation to Purple Heart recipients and their families.
