The city of Reynoldsburg has scheduled another town hall meeting to give residents the opportunity to voice input on the proposed YMCA facility in Reynoldsburg.

The meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 9 in the first floor council chambers at the city municipal building, 7232 E. Main St.

Dan Havener, Reynoldsburg’s development director, said the city and YMCA officials will present plans that incorporate all comments received to date from the community.

City officials and representatives from the YMCA of Central Ohio have held several town hall meetings and focus groups over the past year to discuss the proposed facility that could be built at the site of the former pool off Davidson Drive.

Especially over the past few months, YMCA officials have continued to evolve the design of the facility with the help of input from residents through meetings and surveys.

At the most recent town hall meeting in September, Brian Kridler, chief operating officer for the YMCA of Central Ohio, shared the latest revisions, which added a six-lane outdoor pool and a single story structure at the front of the building that can house partners such as primary care offices – a potential revenue boost that could help sustain the facility.

Other proposed features so far include a community meeting room, a youth wing, a full basketball court, a 2,200-square-foot exercise studio, a sensory room, a three-lane track, a splash park and a teaching kitchen for nutritional classes.

The latest design also reduced the size of the facility from 60,000 square feet to 48,000 square feet, as well as changed plans for two indoor pools to one.

At the town hall meetings, residents are encouraged to ask questions and voice opinions to help YMCA officials land on a favored design. Once that has been determined, officials will begin putting together an estimated cost of construction and sustaining the facility, Kridler said in September.

More focus groups are planned for Jan. 18 and April 12, with times and locations to be determined.
