A Black Lives Matter traveling protest made its way through downtown Grove City on June 7. Those protesting for racial equality and against police violence walked down Broadway and laid on the ground on Park Street where the Grove City Library was once located. Worldwide protests have taken place since the death of George Floyd, who died in Minneapolis on May 25 after a police officer (who is now charged with murder) pressed his knee on Floyd’s neck for nearly nine minutes. Grove City Mayor Richard “Ike” Stage and village of Urbancrest Mayor Joseph Barnes Sr. greeted the participants and spoke at the event.
