Prairie Township lights up the holiday

A group of children dance and chase each other to the tune of “Up on the Rooftop,” sung by the Westland High School Chorale outside the Prairie Township Community Center during the Dec. 1 Tree Lighting event.
Mr. Claus kept the mood merry and bright during the Prairie Township Tree Lighting event. Raine Pawlak, a 6 year-old Ohio State Buckeyes fan, asked Santa for unicorns and ponies after posing for a photo with the jolly spirit for her parents.
Mason Brown, 5, crafts a Christmas card with help from his mother, Jamaliah Brown, during the Tree Lighting event. “We’ve been cooped up in the house since Thanksgiving,” Brown said. “So I figured why not come out tonight.”
