Staffing changes and crime were the main topics at the April 9 Pleasant Township board of trustees meeting.

Two firefighters were removed from part-time employment at the fire department.

“Neither one of these members have completed their requirements of new employees within the 90 days they were allotted,” said Fire Chief Brian Taylor. “It’s actually been about six months.”

Three new members were added to fill the void left by the departures. Donald Goldhart, Timothy Gredel and Chance Diehl are the newest members of the Pleasant Township Fire Department.

Movement of part-time personnel is not uncommon in the department as much of the department is actually part-time.

“We have around 40 to 45 part-time personnel at a given time,” said Taylor. “We only have 11 full-time employees. Me and 10 other guys.”

The sheriff’s department is beginning to see a rise in runs with the warmer temperature as they had 177 runs in the last several weeks. These runs included a domestic violence/assault on Harrisburg-Georgesville Road, an auto theft on Bellview Drive and an attempted robbery on Opossum Run Road.

In other news, the annual flower sale is happening April 19-21 at the Pleasant Township Fire Department, located at 5373 Norton Road in Grove City.
