Last month, Wreaths Across America honored veterans who were laid to rest at Oak Grove Cemetery in Pleasant Township.

According to trustee Ed Sheets, there are approximately 200 veteran graves in Oak Grove Cemetery, and through the Wreaths Across America program, they were able to honor 48 of those 200 veterans by placing wreaths on their graves.

“It was very successful. About 15 volunteers attended,” Sheetz said.

Sheetz said next year the trustees want a wreath placed on all 200 veteran graves.
Wreaths Across America is offering a wreath match through mid-January. For each $15 wreath, the program will sponsor and provide an additional wreath.

“We want to get an early start for next year,” said Sheetz. “If 100 people sponsored just one wreath at $15, we will have met the goal.”

If the township receives an excess of wreaths, the trustees would select another cemetery to honor veterans in addition to Oak Grove.
