To mitigate the spread of COVID-19 and ensure a safe reopening of the library, the Plain City Public Library building remains closed to the public until further notice.

Meeting room reservations and in-house library events are cancelled for the month of May. With the new extension of the governor’s stay-at-home order, the library will continue to limit curbside services to essential services.

The library is offering curbside services, including but not limited to picking up essential item holds, picking up tax forms, using the library wi-fi in the parking lot on personal devices, and printing, faxing, and copying essential documents. These services are available Monday-Thursday, 10 a.m.-7 p.m.; Friday, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.; and Saturday, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Call the library when you arrive curbside at (614) 873-4912, ext. 121; a staff member will meet you curbside.

For more information about the library’s services or online events, call (614) 873-4912, ext. 121. Plain City Public Library’s social media accounts on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram are monitored and updated daily. Visit the library’s social media and website, www.plaincitylib.org/covid-19, for the most up-to-date information. Plain City Public Library is located at 305 W. Main St.

LIVE Online Storytimes. Wednesdays and Mondays at 10:30 a.m. on the library’s Facebook, Youtube, and Twitter channels. For all ages, complete with songs, rhymes, books and more.

LIVE Online Book Talk on Facebook. On May 5 from 10:30 to 11 a.m., Hilary Harlan, adult services librarian, will talk about the June Brunch Book Club pick. She will share reviews and a promotional summary of the book. She also will answer questions about the new book club and how to access an electronic copy of the book. June’s Brunch Book Club pick is “The Sacrament” by Olaf Olafsson.

Bring-Your-Own-Book Challenge on Facebook. May 14 from 6 to 7 pm. Grab a book, any book, and meet on the library’s Facebook page. All ages are welcome. The library will explain the rules when you get there. Be prepared for a fast-paced game of finding-and-searching, silly phrases, and picture-perfect endings.

Brunch Book Club. Starting in June, the library will host this new book club from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. the second Tuesday of the month. The first meeting will be online. When participants can meet safely in person, the club will meet at local restaurants. For June, the group will discuss “The Sacrament” by Olaf Olafsson. Check out the book with your library card on the Hoopla app. Email hharlan@plaincitylib.org or call 873-4912, ext. 130, to receive a link to the Zoom meeting or for questions about Hoopla.
