The Pickerington Board of Education named Daniel Griscom, formerly of Ashland Schools, to replace Vince Utterback as district treasurer.

"Daniel has an array of valuable experiences, including previously serving as a treasurer," said Board of Education President Wes Monhollen. "I expect he will lead this district as we continue to provide excellent financial accountability."

If the board is still satisfied after contacting Griscom’s references, they will award him a two year and two month contract beginning May 1.

Griscom would receive a salary of $102,000.  Utterback earned a salary of  $87,000 plus a $17,000 annuity that brought his total compensation to $104,000.

Griscom has more than 22 years experience in public school finance including serving as treasurer in Ridgedale, Gahanna, Miamisburg and Fostoria.

For the last year, Griscom has served treasurer for Ashland City Schools. His longest tenure was as treasurer for Reynoldsburg City Schools from 1987-98.

In the application he submitted to the board, Griscom described himself as having "built a reputation for professionalism, integrity, effective communications, teamwork, and innovative solutions to problems."

Utterback’s last day was April 10. The board appointed Joanne Little, who retired in 1998 as treasurer of Newark City Schools, to serve as interim treasurer.
