Pick It Up!

The South Central Hilltop Spring Cleanup has returned. On May 1, hundreds of volunteers came out to Sullivant Avenue to pick up trash and other debris along the thoroughfare and its connector streets near Burroughs Elementary School. Event organizer Lisa Boggs said the cleanup was established 19 years ago as a way to bring about unity within the community. “It goes alongside our message that we are all in this together and that good things can happen if we work together.” Doing a good thing here is Edward Davis, 8, who is using a grabber to pick up two empty plastic water bottles at Burroughs Park. Davis, a resident of the westside, was there with his mother, Anndrea Judd.
Mike Minnix (standing), Miles Minnix (perched above), and Melissa Green are prepared to clean up the streets. Mike said his son would only be participating in the capacity as a “morale booster.”
Grove City resident Nicole Mavromatis and her son, Mason Buck, 13, share their found “goods” near this closed business.
