Plain City Elementary announced the school winners of the Zaner-Bloser handwriting contest on Feb. 4. The top placers in each grade were: (front row, from left) first grade, John Coffey; second grade, Connor Stutzman; (back row) third grade, Alexa Hasting; and fourth grade, Kaylee Griest. They each received a certificate and mechanical pencil and will advance to state competition. A total of 80,000 students nationwide compete in the contest.

 
Connor Stutzman’s handwriting sample won him a certificate, a mechanical pencil and advancement to the statewide  Zaner-Bloser handwriting contest. Stutzman, a second-grader, was one of Plain City Elementary’s top placers at the local level.
