Ohio State defensive end Vernon Gholston (50) scoops up a fumble, after Anderson Russell’s sack of Northwestern quarterback C.J. Bacher, and rumbles for his first touchdown ever in the 58-7 rout of the Wildcats Sept. 22. Gholston’s TD gave the Buckeyes a 28-0 first-quarter lead. He was key in keeping pressure on the offense, with the defense holding them to zero yards rushing and 120 yards overall. Northwestern’s only score came on a kick-off return at the start of the second half.
