| Volunteer Carol Wilhelm of the Southwest Historical Society (above) teaches Emily Campbell, 6, of Grove City how the wash was done in the olden days during the Old-Time Harvest Day held in Grove City on Oct. 6. Patrons were invited to experience the harvest as the city’s first settlers did in the 1850s. The event was held at Century Village at Fryer park. To the bottom, Southwest Historical Society volunteer, Carl Green of Grove City, demonstrates how a wood holder was used by his family as far back as 1835. The tool was used to smooth wood to carve out furniture, buckets and other items used on a farm.
