Central Crossing freshman Andrew Higgins wrestled his way to the championship match of the 103-pound weight class at the Division I District Championship held Feb. 22-23 at Hilliard Darby High School. Higgins topped wrestlers from Marysville, Centerville and Reynoldsburg along the way before falling to Watkins Memorial sophomore, Andrew Boehm, in the finals. The runner up finish will qualify him for a spot in the State Wrestling Championship to be held at Value City Arena Feb. 28 through March 1.

Austin Sanders of Central Crossing High School entered this season’s Division I District Championships with a record of 36-2. The 125-pound junior added three more to the win column by scoring tech falls of 15-0 and 16-0 and won another match by a pin, securing a trip to the OHSAA State Boys Wrestling Championships. Sanders’ only loss in the tournament came in the finals against Shawn Fayette of Miamisburg by a score of 4-0.

Their next stop will be the Jerome Schottenstein Center, for the OHSAA State Wrestling Championships, Feb. 28-March 1. |
