The Columbus Garden and Railway Society will chug its way through the Hilltop Sept. 7 during their annual Open Tour with a stop at the home of Ed and Lottie Flowers. Ed is the creator of the F&S Railroad, a system of 450 feet of track winding through a busy neighborhood, all within the back yard of his Wayne Avenue home. The scene includes five trains, a hotel, a basketball court, a gas station, a wedding scene, a passenger station and a metro park. Anyone wishing to experience the F&S Railroad for themselves can visit the Flowers’ home at 432 Wayne Ave. during the tour, from 1-5 p.m. For the full story and photos of various scenes from Flowers’ creation, visit our Web site at www.columbusmessenger.com. |
