|Biddies donate to hospital
The Red Bonnet Biddies donated $200 from their quilt raffle to Madison County Hospital’s breast cancer initiative. The quilt was made and donated by Marjorie Hawkins of London. Hawkins (right) and Cathy Littleton (left) of the Red Bonnet Biddies presented Stefanie Cunningham, mammography technician (second from left) and Sue Besinger, patient navigator (second from right), with the donation.
|London residents compete in their own Olympics
While the world’s athletes were competing in the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, China, Madison Senior Living Community in London celebrated its own “Senior Olympics.” Among the winners were: (from left) Dot Hunter, Black Jack; Eva Williams, Bucket Ball; and Margene Ellinger, Wii Cow Racing champion.

The Madison Soil and Water Conservation District received $1,500 for conservation calendars from Battelle: (from left) Julia Cumming, program administrator; Dana Snyder, new FFA teacher at London High School; Robert Casillas, vice president, Battelle; Elizabeth Finke, supervisor; and Eric Imerman, Madison Conservation Foundation director. Since 1993, SWCD has distributed conservation desktop calen-dars to teachers throughout Madison County. The theme of the calendars this year is ways to save energy.
