| On Feb. 13, one Jackson Middle School student turned a variation of purple into gold. By correctly spelling "amethyst," Kelsey Allmon (left) beat out 50 other intermediate and middle school students at the district wide spelling bee. Fellow Jackson Middle School student Trace Maddox (right) was the runner-up at the event. Each received a trophy and a certificate of achievement at the April 14 school board meeting.
