Photo: Ship floats into West Jeff

Recently, a ship made its way from Jeffersonville to Madison County to a new docking station at Community Free Will Baptist Church, 130 Plain City Georgesville Road, West Jefferson. The 2,500-pound ship, which is actually playground equipment, has been in the works for a couple of years. “We as a church have experienced significant growth within our church the past couple of years, especially in the area of our youth,” said John Stanley, church clerk. In the quest for children’s activities, the Rev. Jerry Newman and his wife, Darlyn, stumbled across the play ship plans at a store in Jeffersonville. Now, the church’s children can play on swings, slides, a ship deck or even the cargo section. “It will serve our youth program well for many years,” Newman said.
