The hometown boys from Rascal Flatts returned to Columbus on Aug. 12 to send the Ohio State Fair out with a bang. Second cousins Jay DeMarcus (left) and Gary LeVox (center) hail from Columbus, while bandmate Joe Don Rooney is from Oklahoma. This was the third straight year Rascal Flatts have played to the crowd at the Columbus Crew Stadium in affiliation with the fair. Although the show sold 22,785 seats, they did not sell out as they did the previous two years. The band says their fans from Ohio hold a special place in their hearts, but they are continuously growing in popularity across the country as they await the release of their newest album in September. Rascal Flatts was the 2006 winner of the CMA, ACM and CMT Vocal Group of the Year – the same year they sold more than 1 million concert tickets.
