Gov. Ted Strickland opened the first day of the Ohio State Fair by praising attractions throughout the grounds of the Ohio Expo Center, such as the Natural Resources area; expressing hope to break fair attendance records; and saluting the cultural and ethnic diversity of the citizens of the State of Ohio. Following his remarks, he and his wife pressed a ceremonial button officially opening the 154th fair. The event included concerts by the All-Ohio Youth Choir and Band.
