After 16 years of elected service, Alma Bennett will retire as the fiscal officer of Jackson Township on March 31. The township held a farewell reception for her on March 25. After four terms, Bennett is the longest serving elected official in the township. She retired from the South-Western City School District in 1991 then became the township clerk (now called fiscal officer) in 1992. In her 16 years, Bennett has missed only one board meeting. Township officials say she took great pride in her work and accurately balanced every financial account to the penny. Bennett is involved in organizations such as the Grove City Rotary Club, the Grove City Chamber of Commerce, and is an original charter member of the Grove City YMCA. In 2004, the Franklin County Board of Health presented Bennett with the Robert L. Stratton Award for outstanding efforts and leadership in township government. William Forrester will take over as fiscal officer.
