The old teacher’s lounge at Brookpark Middle School was described as a "real mess" by Grove City High School senior-to-be Grant Speakman. It featured two-tone walls (purple and green), as well as flooring that was half-carpet, half-tile. However, that was the past, and when the teachers step into their new lounge at the beginning of the 2008/09 school year, they are in for a big surprise. The Eagle Scout Troop 385 needed to complete a project, and someone from the Brookpark Parent Teacher Association recommended they take on the task of redecorating the teacher’s lounge. In mid July, 14 Eagle Scouts started their task and since that day, they have ripped apart and installed new tiles for the floor, painted the walls one color, built a table, installed a ceiling fan and redesigned their kitchen area. Speakman, an Eagle Scout who supervised the project, said there was not a deadline to finish the remodeling, but it only took 16 days to do so. |
