Grove City mother and daughter Eloise Cassidy and Heather Rush spent the morning of May 10 picking the perfect plant from hundreds of offerings at a herb and perennial sale at the Gardens at Gantz Farm. In conjunction with the annual fund raiser sponsored by the gardens’ volunteers, the Grove City Tree Commission sold trees, grasses, and woody plants. Gantz volunteers use proceeds from the annual sale to buy items for the farmhouse and gardens, such as potting benches, utility carts, kitchen equipment, and horticulture books for a growing library. In addition to the premier herb gardens at Gantz, with an extensive professionally landscaped collection, the parks and recreation complex includes a playground, tennis courts, bicycle trail and barn, which served the Gantz family as part of their farming operation until the late 1970s. An original barn caught fire and was rebuilt in the 1940s.
