The London Rotary Club is pleased to honor senior Payton Pollock as Madison-Plains High School’s January Student of the Month.

Students of the month are selected by school administrators based on their academic and extracurricular achievement and positive character.

Payton has a 3.9 grade point average and is ranked eighth in his class. His favorite course is Western Civilization.

During his time in high school, Payton has played basketball and baseball for four years and golf for one year. Payton has been a member of the National Honor Society for three years.

When asked to name a Madison-Plains staff member who inspires him, Payton picked math teacher and basketball coach Nathan Warner.

“Mr. Warner is an inspiration to me because he has helped me become a better person and has helped me realize that I can do many things that I thought I couldn’t,” Payton said.

Regarding Payton, Warner said, “I have had the great pleasure of coaching Payton during his four years of high school. Throughout that time, he has been everything we want in a student-athlete that is a part of the Madison-Plains basketball program.

“Payton has many strengths, but one of his best characteristics is the commitment shown through his work ethic. I have always been able to rely on his commitment to completing the task, led by his strong work ethic. I am thankful for his contributions towards our program, on and off the court, and I am forever grateful for the impact Payton has had on me.”

After graduation, Payton plans to attend Wright State University to earn a business degree. He is the son of Sean and Leanna Pollock.

The London Rotary Club has a proud history dating back to 1929. It is a member of Rotary International, a volunteer organization of 1.2 million businesses and professional leaders united worldwide to provide humanitarian service and help build good will and peace.
