Victor Paini announced on Sept. 29 that he has withdrawn from the race for mayor of Canal Winchester.

Paini cited work responsibilities as his primary reason.

“I owe it to my family, my company and the community to make this decision,” Paini said.
Paini said he’ll continue to serve as Madison Township trustee and will remain active in the community.

“I’m proud of my service to Canal Winchester and Madison Township and I’ll continue to serve this great community,” Paini said. “In fact, I recently joined the boards of the BrockStrong Foundation and Mott’s Military Museum so there are no shortage of projects to work on.”

Paini said he hoped his campaign resonated and that some of the ideas would be seen through to fruition.

“The voters adopted a charter that includes a recommendation to have a city manager,” Paini said.  “I hope city leaders will see that through in order to bring professional planning and practice to city government.”

The announcement comes too late to affect the November ballots, so Paini’s name will appear on the November ballot.  Any votes he receives, however, will not count.
