The clink of a bat, the smack of a ball in a mitt, the ringing of cheers and laughter. These sounds make up the symphony of Windsor Park each summer. Join in as the song of youth baseball begins anew as the Grove City Little League® and Grove City Buddy Ball League kick off the 2017 season with special Opening Day ceremonies starting at 9 a.m., Saturday, May 6 in Windsor Park, 4408 Broadway.
A procession of teams representing Buddy Ball and Tee Ball through Big League will parade through the park to Barry Babbert Memorial Field behind the Evans Center. Following the procession, the 2017 inductees to the Grove City Wall of Fame in the heart of Windsor Park will be introduced. This year’s class includes Shirley Wedge, Bill Riley, Ted Maynard, Larry Barker and the Kiwanis Club of Grove City.
Games begin at 10 a.m. Stay around to cheer on the community youth as they enjoy America’s favorite past time.
“Baseball has been a spirited part of Grove City’s legacy,” said Grove City Mayor Richard “Ike” Stage. “The Grove City Wall of Fame pays tribute to community members who have supported the city’s more than 60 years of organized baseball history.”
