The Groveport Madison Area Community Choir hosted an outdoor show entitled, “The Drive-in Show: A Trip Down Memory Lane,” on May 15 at Groveport Zion Lutheran Church. It was the group’s first live performance since February 2020 due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Singers performed songs made famous by such artists as Elvis Presley, Chubby Checker, The Ronettes, Petula Clark, and many more. “This show was a way for us to get out and perform,” said Groveport Madison Area Community Choir Director Terri Christensen. “We felt like it was time. We want to thank Groveport Zion Lutheran Church for all their help and support.” Christensen said the group hopes to begin rehearsals this fall for its 2022 show, “Hooray for Hollywood.” Pictured here are members of The Ronettes (portrayed by Beth Cordle, Cayla Williamson, and Heidi Christensen) and Frankie Avalon (portrayed by James Meister) dancing to music performed on stage by Chubby Checker (Walt Williamson).
Petula Clark (portrayed by Bridget Burke-Hale) singing, “Downtown.”
