Eugene Marczika age 82, passed away on Saturday, July 15 surrounded by his wife, daughter, Marianne, son, Gene, and Juli, and their children.
He was the youngest of six children of Martin and Elizabeth (Fodor) Marczika. After graduating from Father Aquinas High School in 1958, he worked as a machinist for most of his career. Gene had a remarkable passion for learning and a varied life that included a diverse range of talents and hobbies.
He was not only an exceptional craftsman capable of fixing practically anything, but also a musician at heart. Gene’s musical journey started with the accordion and organ, yet it was his devotion to playing the piano every day that ignited his true passion. Before relocating to South Carolina, he actively engaged in a regular fitness routine at the Grove City YMCA, participating in Pickleball and a wide variety of Silver Sneakers aerobic classes. He was a longtime member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Grove City. He touched countless lives, and he will be deeply missed.
He is survived by Marianne, his loving wife of 64 years; preceded in death by his son, Michael; children Marianne Gibson (Eric), Gene (Juli), Bryan (Susie); sister-in-law, Patricia Ann Douglas; two granddaughters; seven grandsons; two great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews and longtime dear friends.
Friends may call Thursday, July 27 from 4-7 p.m. at the Spence-Miller Funeral Home, 2697 Columbus Street, Grove City, Ohio 43123, (614) 875-4878. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, July 28th at noon. The service will be held at Our Mother of Sorrows Chapel within Saint Joseph Cemetery, 6440 S High St, Lockbourne, OH 43137, and following the ceremony, we will proceed with the interment.
