The mayor of Obetz was allegedly involved in a disturbance at a Groveport funeral home.
According to Groveport Police Chief Ralph Portier, on May 27 around 7:41 p.m. Groveport police officers responded to a domestic violence call at the funeral home.
Portier said that, according to statements and witnesses, Obetz Mayor Greg Scott allegedly became involved an argument with his ex-wife, while attending a funeral service for his mother. The ex-wife received minor injuries after she was allegedly pushed and knocked to the ground by Scott. She refused transportation by local EMS.
Portier said Obetz police officers who were in attendance, attempted to separate the family members involved in the incident. One officer was allegedly assaulted when he was grabbed around the neck by a family member.
Portier said Scott refused to provide a statement and was taken to Grant Hospital for observation due to a sudden complaint of chest pain after the assault.
According to Portier, due to Scott being in the hospital, arrangements were made to provide security at Grant Hospital until his release pending an arraignment.
Portier said he had no further comment on the matter.
