On May 3, the Madison-Plains High School FFA chapter attended the second day of the 96th Annual Ohio FFA State Convention. From attending sessions and shopping at the convention to touring the Rogue Fitness Headquarters and eating great food at Spaghetti Warehouse and Johnson’s Real Ice Cream, the members had a day full of fun and exciting activities.

Though they did many things throughout the day, the main focus was the awards. At the beginning of the day, Madison-Plains FFA members Mattalynn Long and Luke Mason were recognized for their gold-rated secretary and treasurer books. To receive a gold rating, officers must submit high-quality books for judging.

Nine Madison-Plains FFA members applied for and received their State Degrees. To be considered, an applicant must have earned at least $2,500 through their supervised agricultural experience, completed 25 hours of community service, and maintained a grade point average of 2.0 or higher, among other requirements.

The Madison-Plains students who met these requirements this year include Ashley Bailey, Whitney Barbery, Abigail Damron, Mattalynn Long, Luke Mason, Ann Mathewson, Addison Reeves, Mackenzie Reeves, and Gracie Stingle.

State Convention is a great time for many. It brings people from all over the state together to celebrate agriculture along with their individual achievements. Each year, FFA members look forward to this event, and Madison-Plains FFA members are no exception.
