Rodebaugh Road Park in Reynoldsburg has received new playground equipment.

A re-dedication ceremony and ribbon cutting for the playground equipment at Rodebaugh Road Park was held on Dec. 8. Pictured here, from left to right, are: (front row) Mike Wilson (parks and recreation), Duaine Ashbrook (parks and recreation), Mary Karga (TS Tech), Donna Bauman (parks and recreation director), and Mayor Brad McCloud; (second row) Pastor Aaron Delong, Trevor Sands, Sean Montgomery, Chuck Reisling, Al Atwood, Jason LaPorte (all of Simple Church).
According to Reynoldsburg Parks and Recreation Director Donna Bauman, the original playground equipment at Rodebaugh Road Park was installed in 1990 and had reached its life expectancy. Rodebaugh Road Park was selected for new equipment based on the condition of the equipment identified during the parks and recreation department’s annual evaluation of playground and park facilities for improvement and replacement as budget and resources allowed.
“This playground renovation was possible due to the support of many people and groups,” said Bauman. “The main playground structure and the play-share swing were contributed by an anonymous donor. The Spin Max-go round was donated by TS Tech (located on East Broad Street). Jerry Groves, president of Service Supply LTD., Inc. in Reynoldsburg, was the supplier of the playground equipment and provided a discount to enable the project to be completed. The list price of this equipment is over $30,000.”
The new playground equipment was installed on Nov. 12 by the parks and recreation maintenance crew with the help of members from Simple Church, TS Tech, and individual community members.
“This collaboration is a wonderful example of how successful a partnership between businesses, city government, community organizations, and residents can be when working towards a common goal,” said Bauman. “The Reynoldsburg Parks and Recreation Department would also like to thank Jolly Pirate Donuts and Wendy’s for their generous in-kind donation that provided breakfast and lunch for all of our volunteers.”
