New hotel at Hollywood Casino is expected to bring jobs to the westside

On July 21, Hollywood Casino and the Columbus Building and Construction Trades Council announced that a Community Benefit Agreement (“CBA”) reached between the parties pertaining to the planned hotel to be built on the property over the coming year.

The new hotel at Hollywood Casino will occupy 150,000 square feet with 200 rooms including suites, an additional food and beverage option, expanded conference and meeting space, fitness center and outdoor seating terrace. Permitting for the project is anticipated to be completed in the coming weeks with an expected groundbreaking in the fourth quarter of 2023.

“Having helped build the Hollywood Casino back in 2009, it is a pleasure to once again partner with the team at Penn Entertainment and Hollywood Casino on this expansion project,” said Dorsey Hager, the executive secretary of the Columbus Building Trades Council. “Our Community Benefit Agreement will ensure this project is completed safely on time and on budget while utilizing a diverse local skilled workforce that reflects the community as it relates to people of color, women and veterans. Jobs created from this project and our partnership with PENN Entertainment will give graduates of our award winning Building Futures Program opportunities to start their careers and get on the direct path to the middle class.”

In addition to the temporary construction jobs, Rick Skinner, vice president and general manager of Hollywood Casino anticipates approximately 100 permanent jobs will be created within the hotel once it is completed.

“We are excited to bring new amenities in addition to a fabulous place for our players to stay,” said Skinner. “This will allow us to provide a full conference and banquet package for our sales team to offer existing clients but also attract new business to central Ohio and the westside with our conference and meeting space abilities.

“We look forward to the upcoming months and breaking ground on this beautiful new hotel, as well as this great partnership we continue to hold with the Columbus Building and Construction Trades Council.”

Hollywood Casino Columbus is located off I-270 west and is open 24 hours a day; seven days a week.
