The city of London hosted National Night Out activities on Aug. 3 at Cowling Park. The purpose of NNO is to bring together law enforcement personnel, first responders, and the community in a family-friendly setting. Local first responders displayed vehicles on the park lawn, measured baseball throws with a radar gun, served up hotdogs and popcorn, and gave away goodie bags, police stickers, and plastic fire hats.

John Moore, a trooper with the West Jefferson Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, shows Keke Sanders (seated), 3, and her sister, Delasia, 5, the features of one of the patrol’s vehicles.
Joseph Harris (left), an officer with the London Police Department, stands at the ready with a radar detector to measure how fast Logan Green, 16, of London could throw a baseball into a net. Harris clocked Green’s throw at 38 miles per hour.
Emma Anderson (left), 11, and Sarah Anderson, 14, hang out in one of the police vehicles on display. The sisters are member of the London Strawberry Festival royalty court. Emma’s title is junior miss; Sarah’s title is miss first attendant.
