National Heart Month

Since 1963 Congress has required our nation’s president to proclaim February as "National Heart Month" in an effort to urge Americans to join the battle against cardiovascular diseases including stroke, our nation’s #1 killer. For the last five years, the American Heart Association has promoted Feb.1 as "National Wear Red Day" to draw attention to the rising number of heart disease among women.

The Groveport community is blessed to be surrounded by many opportunities to do the best we can to stay fit and in the best possible health. We are fortunate to have within a short distance many parks with trails reasonable for walking and riding bikes. We also have a state of the art facility with the Groveport Recreation Center that offers numerous opportunities for everyone at any fitness level, including new in 2008 an increased selection of physical fitness classes that are available to both members and non-members alike. Merchants are on hand with special Valentine offerings including: cards, gift baskets, silk flower arrangements, food and beverage sampling, framed photography, clothing, purses, jewelry, Tupperware and more!  Gift wrapping and door prizes, too!

•"Thank You for Your Heart Reception", Feb. 9, 6:30-8 p.m., at the Banquet Room at Papa Joe’s, 1005 Richardson Road, Groveport. We are celebrating and honoring all of our community "Angels" who kindly gave of their heart to help us fulfill the 2007 Groveport Madison Adopt-A-Family.
