Wurm and Bluestein to wed at Deer Creek on Sept. 6

Kenneth Wurm and Janet Miller of Plain City are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Katharine Teal, to Matthew Alan, son of Michael and Barbara Bluestein of Cincinnati.

Katharine is a graduate of the University of Cincinnati and is pursuing a Ph.D. in biomedi-cal engineering at The Ohio State University. Matthew is an MBA graduate of Xavier University.

The wedding will be held Sept. 6 at Deer Creek State Park in Mount Sterling.

Troopers crack car larceny cases

Troopers Eric A. Caudill and Raul A. Melo of the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s West Jefferson Post were honored with the Ace Award at ceremonies held Aug. 13 at the West Jefferson Post.

Col. Richard H. Collins, patrol superintendent, presented the awards, which recognize excellence in auto larceny enforcement.

Caudill recovered five stolen vehicles valued at $39,800 and apprehended eight suspects to earn the second Ace Award of his career.

Caudill joined the patrol in August 2000 as a cadet dispatcher for the Bucyrus post. A year later he transferred to the Marion post. He began training at the Academy in November 2002 as a member of the 140th Academy class. He received his commission in 2003 and was assigned to the West Jefferson post.

Originally of Prospect, Caudill resides in Columbus with his wife, Heather, and their son, Ethan.

Melo recovered five stolen vehicles with a combined value of $16,500 and apprehended five suspects in connection with the thefts. A certificate, uniform ribbon, and Ace license plates for display on his cruiser were presented to him.

Melo joined the patrol in April 2002 as a member of the 139th Academy Class. He received his commission that October and was assigned to the West Jefferson post. In January 2003 he transferred to the Mount Gilead Post. In June of that year, he transferred back to the West Jefferson post.

Melo resides in Columbus with his wife, Adrianna, and their son, Alexander.

Caudill and Melo each received a certificate, uniform ribbon, and Ace license plates for display on their cruisers.

Madison-Plains Class of ’83 reunites


The 1983 graduating class of Madison-Plains High School celebrated their 25th year reunion at Brennan Loft in London. Over 40 graduates and 30 guests enjoyed a sit-down dinner. Six teachers attended.
