The following are among the pets up for adoption at the Humane Society of Madison County.

Mysty

Mysty

Mysty is an adorable love bug who is the definition of loyal. She is a sweet girl who loves to play and cuddle and has a smile as big as Texas. Her estimated birthdate is November 2021, She weighs around 36 pounds.

Mysty can be timid at first, but once she knows you, she is a big softy. Because she is young and still learning basic commands, she is looking for a loving family who can help her continue to learn and grow. She does know “sit” and is eager to please and treat motivated. She should be a quick learner. Her favorite toys are anything that squeaks.

Mysty would do best in a home with another dog that matches her size and energy.

Adoption fees for dogs vary: shelter dogs are $180, prison dogs are $250, puppies are $300, and popular pure-breeds are $400. The price includes: a Home Again microchip, set of shots, deworming, heartworm testing (if old enough), spay or neuter, and a one-year rabies shot (if old enough). All dogs adopted must leave with a county license at an additional cost of $17; this fee is cash only. Adoption fees can be paid by cash or credit card.

Fidget

Fidget

Fidget arrived at the shelter with his sister, Kitten, after their owner passed away. With the abrupt change, he is still adjusting to life at the shelter but doing well considering the circumstances.

Fidget is 5 years old, sweet, loving, and in need of losing some weight. The shelter is feeding him a restricted calorie diet to help him on his weight loss journey.

He does well with other kitties and lived with them in his previous home. He loves his sister and would love to be adopted with her, but it is not required. He is good with children, but respectful kids would be best. He could live with a dog with slow and proper introductions.

The adoption fees for cats are $100 for kittens up to 6 months old and $80 for cats 7 months and older. It includes: a FeLV/FIV test (if old enough), spay or neuter, set of shots, deworming, and a one-year rabies shot (if old enough). Fees can be paid by cash or credit card.
