Residents of the westside who wanted to spend a nice evening listening to live music played by talented artists did not have to venture far to get their fix. For several hours on Aug. 26, close to half-a-dozen bands and solo artists who call the Westgate neighborhood their home performed for a large crowd of music-lovers as a part of the area’s third annual “Play Music on the Porch Day.” Presented locally by the Westgate Neighbors Association, “Play Music on the Porch Day” is a worldwide initiative founded in 2013 with the mission of bringing people together through song to “light up the world with music.” Shown here lighting up his side of the neighborhood with music is Paul Bedell. For a little over half-an-hour, Bedell delighted the crowd with covers of artists such as Bruce Springsteen and Chris Isaak and also incorporated some of his original songs as well.
