The schedule for this year’s Mount Sterling Community Days Festival is jam-packed with family-friendly fun.
Hours are 11 a.m.-9 p.m. June 29 and 10 a.m.-midnight June 30. Activities are at Veterans Field and the Mount Sterling Community Center at 164 E. Main St., as well as various other spots downtown.
The last several years, a laser light show has served as the weekend’s grand finale. This year, organizers are offering something new. Visitors are invited to bring lawn chairs and blankets to Veterans Field on Saturday night to watch “The Lion King” on a large, inflatable, outdoor movie screen.
Instead of carnival rides, the festival will feature three new bounce houses–a small Mickey and Minnie Mouse-themed house, a large tropical-themed house with a slide and climbing wall, and a large two-person obstacle course. The houses will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday. All-day wristbands for them are $5.
“We wanted to make it very easy on parents. We didn’t want to charge an arm and a leg,” said Annie Tomlinson, Community Center director.
Also new to the line-up this year are pony rides, a marionette show sponsored by the Mount Sterling Public Library, and a farm-themed Touch-a-Truck display sponsored by Green & Sons.
