More music to come at Plain City’s Pastime Park

The village of Plain City hosts a Music in the Park series with a variety of groups performing at Pastime Park on most Sundays throughout the summer and into early fall.

The concerts are free and last approximately one hour. Visitors are encouraged to bring their own chairs or blankets. The performances take place at the park gazebo or the cattle barn shelter. The park is located at 370 N. Chillicothe St.

This year’s lineup is as follows:
• June 9 at 7 p.m. – Dublin Metro Brass. This most recent addition to the Dublin Community Bands family combines the community band and competition band experiences.

• June 16 at 7 p.m. – Red Healer. Embodying a feel-good, positive, and inspiring vibe, this group specializes in a blend of folk and soul music.

• June 23 at 7 p.m. – Steve Bumgarner. This singer and guitarist hails from Plain City.

• June 30 at 7 p.m. – Dublin Wind Symphony. Featuring woodwinds, brass, and percussion, this community band performs symphonic pieces, classic marches, show tunes, and contemporary music.

• July 7 at 7 p.m. – Aladdin Shrine Dixieland Band. This and the other Aladdin Shrine bands are made up of professional musicians, music educators, college music majors, and outstanding current and post high school music students

• July 28 at 7 p.m. – Emerald City Swing Orchestra. This 20-piece band plays tunes from the big-band era, contemporary artists, and classic jazz singers. Listeners can expect to hear music from the likes of Glenn Miller, Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Billy Joel, Steely Dan, Carlos Santana, Frank Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald.

• Aug. 4 at 7 p.m. – Counterpoint. This acoustic duo specializes in songs from the 1960s and ‘70s with a strong emphasis on vocal harmonies.

• Aug. 11 at 7 p.m. – Aladdin Shrine Concert Band.

• Aug. 25 at 7 p.m. – Lower London Street Dixieland Band. With 45 years of experience, these local musicians delight in performing traditional King Oliver and Lu Watters-style Dixieland music.

• Sept. 1 at 6:30 p.m. – band to be determined.

• Sept. 8 at 6:30 p.m. – Andy Leer & The Buffalo. This duo plays soulful Americana music ranging all the way back to Jimmy Rogers through more modern classics.

• Sept. 15 at 6:30 p.m. – Plain City Community Singers. Men and women of all ages make up this vocal group that performs a variety of music from Broadway tunes to pop hits.

• Sept. 22 at 6:30 p.m. – C Sharp Big Band.
