Metro Parks winter hike series starts Jan. 3

Metro Parks will kick off its annual Winter Hikes Series Jan. 3 at Blacklick Woods.

The popular event draws thousands each year and consists of 12 hikes through several Metro Parks in Franklin, Madison and other surrounding counties. Participants who complete at least seven hikes receive a decorative or year patch. The walks include guided and self-guided hikes, as well as refreshments that range from soup to chicken and noodles.
