VFW Post #10523 hosted its annual Canal Winchester Memorial Day ceremony at the Union Grove Cemetery on May 29. The ceremony included Boy Scout Troop 103, Cub Scout Troop 103, and the Canal Winchester High School Band. Keynote speaker was Air Force Chief Master Sgt.Troy R. Taylor, the Command Chief Master Sergeant for the Ohio Air National Guard.
Local Boy Scouts Troop 103 and Cub Scouts Troop 103 hosted a flag retiring ceremony following the Canal Winchester Memorial Day ceremony. Both troops collect retired flags year-round at drop boxes located at the Canal Winchester Library and between Indian Trail and Winchester Trail schools. Canal Winchester Mayor Mike Ebert introduced the keynote speaker at the Canal Winchester Memorial Day ceremony on May 29.
“We all struggle to understand how to celebrate this holiday,” said keynote speaker Air Force Chief Master Sgt.Troy R. Taylor, the Command Chief Master Sergeant for the Ohio Air National Guard at the Canal Winchester Memorial Day ceremony on May 29. Taylor shared that in his 20 years serving during war, he will remember those he lost and that their names will be chiseled on his heart. He encouraged all to do the same on Memorial Day.
