Changes are coming to the meeting schedule of the village of Urbancrest council.
At the Dec. 1 meeting, fiscal officer Kathy Thimmes suggested that the council change the date of their regular monthly meetings to have more complete financial records.
According to Thimmes, the council works with inaccurate monthly financial reports because the date of their regular meetings fall on the first Tuesday of the month.
“This change would provide better financial reports, more complete reports (to accommodate the calendar month),” she said.
After hearing her suggestion and reasoning to change the meeting date to the second Tuesday of the month, the council voted unanimously to do so.
The change will take effect January 2016, so the next regularly scheduled council meeting will be held on Jan. 12. The meetings will still start at 7 p.m. and they will still be held at the municipal complex, located at 3492 First Ave.
In other news, council approved contract extensions for two of their department heads, Marvin Mitchell and Larry Larkins Sr.
Mitchell is the code enforcement officer and has held that position since 2002. He is tasked with enforcing the village code.
Larkins Sr. has been the street commissioner since 2013. He is tasked with the general upkeep of the community.
Council approved their extensions until the end of 2016.
The council also approved the authorization for the fiscal officer to obtain membership for the village in the Ohio Municipal League for fiscal year 2016. They also approved the authorization for the fiscal officer to obtain membership for the village in the Grove City Area Chamber of Commerce for fiscal year 2016.
