Mayor Ray Martin is forming a committee to address drug problems in West Jefferson. He attended Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine’s recent statewide meeting on the heroin epidemic.
“The biggest thing I took away from the meeting is that we can’t police our way out of this,” Martin said.
The new group will look at the problem from all angles, he said, including prevention, treatment and law enforcement. A West Jefferson police officer will serve as the village’s liaison to the committee.
