Mark your calendar for the South Charleston Legion cruise-in

(Posted July 9, 2024)

South Charleston American Legion Post 176 will hold its 30th annual cruise-in from 4 to 8 pm. Aug. 24 at South Charleston Community Park.

As always, admission is free for spectators and cruise-in participants. All makes, models, and vintages of vehicles are welcome. The show attracted approximately 83 vehicles last year.

South Charleston resident Tony Cooper will serve as DJ for the event, spinning tunes from the 1950s to today. Door prizes and a 50/50 drawing are planned, and the Legion will serve up pork chop dinners and more.

Dinners include a porkchop, baked beans, and choice of potato salad or macaroni salad. Customers also can order single porkchops with no sides.

Proceeds go to the Legion Post 176/Rick Woods scholarship fund which distributes $4,000 to $5,000 each year to graduating Southeastern High School students.

The car show is one of the Legion’s main fundraisers. The organization also holds a golf scramble in May, sells food during the South Charleston Heritage Days Festival, and holds a cookout during harvest season.
