Battelle Darby Creek Metro Park is located at 1775 Darby Creek Dr. in Galloway, four miles off Route 40 just east of West Jefferson. Here is a list of events for March.
•Project Peent, March 8 at 6:30 p.m. – Take a one-mile walk in search of the American woodcock and watch as he performs his aerial courtship antics. Meet at the Naturalist Office.
•Wetland Ramble, March 9 at 1 p.m. – Search for amphibians on a muddy one-mile trek into the wetlands. Meet at Indian Ridge Bulleting Board.
•Preschoolers: Quaint Quackers, March 11 at 9:30 or 11:30 a.m. – Discover the world of waterfowl through a story and activities. Meet at Cedar Ridge Lodge.
•Photo Nuts Photography Club, March 12 at 7 p.m. – Bring your camera and learn techniques for studio lighting and portraits. All levels of shutterbugs are welcome. Meet at the Naturalist Office.
•Woodcock Antics, March 16 at 7:30 p.m. – Take a one-mile walk in search of the American woodcock and watch as he performs his aerial courtship antics. Meet at the Naturalist Office.
•Full Moon of Winds Hike, March 21 at 7:30 p.m. – Take a brisk four-mile hike. Meet at the Naturalist Office.
•Darby Darters, March 22 at 1 p.m. – We’ll catch and release these colorful fish and learn about their role in the watershed. Meet at the Naturalist Office.
•Snow Trillium, March 23 at 1 p.m. – Take a rugged two-mile off-trail hike in search of this rare wildflower. Meet at the the Naturalist Office.
•Preschoolers: Quaint Quackers, March 28 at 11 a.m. or 1 p.m. – Discover the world of waterfowl through a story and activities. Meet at Cedar Ridge Lodge.
•Spring In Your Step, March 29 at 1 p.m. – Enjoy a walk in search of seasonal signs. Meet at the Naturalist Office.
