"We’re relieved and thankful and grateful to the community for coming to the polls and renewing both levies," said Linda Blankenship, president of the Madison Plains Local Board of Education.
In the Nov. 6 general election, the majority of the school district’s voters cast ballots in favor of a 2.5-mill permanent improvement levy and an 8-mill operating levy.
The permanent improvement levy passed 1,058-896. It will continue to generate $379,000 per year for the next five years. The operating levy passed 1,071-909. It will continue to generate $1.5 million per year for the next three years.
"These will keep us running at the level we’re at now and doing all we can for the kids in the district," Blankenship said. "We can go on and concentrate on the rest of the needs facing the district now."
