Madison-Plains hosts its first ever powerlifting meet

Madison-Plains High School made history Dec. 8, hosting the school’s and Madison County’s first ever powerlifting meet.

The Iron Eagle Classic featured 190 powerlifters from eight schools: Madison-Plains, Allen East, Bradford, Kenton Ridge, Mount Gilead, Oregon Clay, Roosevelt and Tri Village.

The boys’ and girls’ teams from Madison-Plains walked away with first-place team trophies. A total of 54 Golden Eagles competed.

Among the leaders on the team are seniors and returning state-placers Rachel Guiette, Byron Hamilton, Nate Hill, Bradan Mast, Isaac Puckett and Kloee Whitaker.

Madison-Plains junior Addi Tesi sucessfully lifts 250 pounds to wrap up her competition at the Iron Eagle Classic. She competed in the deadlift and bench press.
Madison-Plains senior Trevor Null achieves a new personal record, lifting 425 pounds in the dead lift category at the Iron Eagle Classic.
As her teammates look on, senior Kiley Kunis of Madison-Plains achieves a new personal record, lifting 225 pounds in the dead lift at the Iron Eagle Classic, beating her previous best by 10 pounds.
Madison-Plains senior Mason Howard reaches a new personal record in the dead lift, lifting 350 pounds at the Iron Eagle Classic. Mason competed in the dead lift and bench press.
The Madison-Plains girls’ team took first place in the first Iron Eagle Classic.
The Madison-Plains boys’ team took first place in the first Iron Eagle Classic.
