The Madison Plains High School Class of 1973 celebrated its “Golden 50th” year reunion beginning with an impromptu get-together on Sept. 8 at the Fraternal Order of Eagles in London.

A morning golf outing at the Deer Creek Lodge and Conference Center golf course in Mount Sterling started the reunion festivities on Sept. 9.

That evening, class members arrived at the lodge and conference center for registration and received lanyards showing their graduation picture. They enjoyed a social hour with cocktails and a D.J. providing 70’s music. Tables were adorned with sunflower centerpieces, and laminated pictures of the classmates served as placemats and keepsakes. A buffet dinner was served, along with a cake with the 1973 class picture imprinted on it.

A “history test” packet was distributed to attendees featuring questions centered around classmates and events representing the year 1973. The winner received an inscribed trophy.

Pictures of classmates of prior class reunions were projected on a big screen. Elementary and junior high pictures of classmates were displayed on tables. Deceased classmates were remembered with a tribute and display of their pictures. A classmate’s spouse acted as photographer to memorialize the evening.
