The Madison-Plains Board of Education honored the late Mason Cordell with a moment of silence at the board’s July 23 meeting.

Cordell died on July 18 after a motocross accident. He graduated from Madison-Plains High School in May and was active in the community. He participated on the high school football team, Future Farmers of America chapter and the power-lifting team.

“Mason was a special young man,” said Board President Mark Mason. “The Madison-Plains community was blessed to have a part of him.”

The board is working to provide grief counselors for students and community members. A scholarship fund is to be set up in Cordell’s name.
