The Madison County Math Contest took place on April 26 at Tolles Career and Technical Center in Plain City. The bee features 68 competitors in grades 5-8 from the Jonathan Alder, London, Madison-Plains and West Jefferson school districts.
Students competed by grade level on a written test of 20 questions with one tie-breaker question for first place. Awards were given for first, second and third place. Students who placed first also received $25.
The results are as follows:
Fifth grade
First–Peyton Parker from Madison-Plains Intermediate School. Peyton won by the use of the tie-breaker question.
Second–Daniel Farmwald from Canaan Middle School (Jonathan Alder)
Third–Ryan Nicol from Canaan Middle School (Jonathan Alder)

Sixth grade
First–Eva Dwyer from London Middle School
Second (tie)–Isabella Pantone from West Jefferson Middle School and Emmalyn Moyer from Canaan Middle School (Jonathan Alder)
Third (tie)–Josh Freeze and Anna Stroup, both from Madison-Plains Intermediate School

Seventh grade
First–Dani Berger from Jonathan Alder Junior High. Dani won by the tie-breaker question.
Second–Ethan Roberts from West Jefferson Middle School
Third (four-way tie)–Zavier Mayabb from Madison-Plains Junior High, Lillian Friend from London Middle School, Ella Hostetler from West Jefferson Middle School, and Troy Nicol from Jonathan Alder Junior High

Eighth grade
First–Garek Logue from London Middle School. Garek also won by tie-breaker.
Second–Chloe Wilson from Jonathan Alder Junior High
Third–Ashlyn Gall from Jonathan Alder Junior High.
The Madison County Principals’ Association and the county’s school superintendents put on the annual contest.
